Name: Zoll Dawson (called "Jet" by friends)
Age: 12 years old
Trainer Class: Trainer
Physical Description: Zoll has long, dark purple hair that is slightly wavy. She wears a coral colored shell hair clip that she keeps on the right side of her head. She has limited makeup, though what she has makes her look rather nice and tidy.
Zoll has an old fashioned dress, with full skirts and several layers. She does have her "summer" outfit, which has three less layers that she wears when the weather is hot and dry.
Her dress is black and coral colored, including black gloves that go up to her elbows. she wears a velvet choker and comfortable black shoes.
Zoll has a slim figure, and she is short. very short. About four feet, thats all. She has a small face with rather cute features: small, grey eyes and tiny ears.
Zoll doesn't really care much about her facial presentation, but her outfit must be covered with ribbons, bows, and lace. She hates anything sparkly, like gems or glitter
Personality: Zoll is a quiet girl who enjoys tea. She tends to spend most her time alone in the woods with her shadowy pokemon. She rarely smiles and is rather mellow most the time. The friends she does have she is very loyal to, and feels that she must protect them in any way she can.
Zoll is one to stop and observe her surroundings when she enters a new location, because she doesn't fancy getting into a mess of trouble and having to think her way out of it. She much prefers knowing exactly what she is facing, and calmly stepping into that.
Zoll is a very proper person who always has her ankles covered by skirts or petticoats. She never could dare interrupt anyone, nor could she possibly consider talking badly about anyone. Even enemies. She also could never call a muk stinky or a magikarp weak.
in her spare time, Zoll writes in a notebook a story. No one aside from her knows what the story is about, though it is certain to be good, since she has been writing in it since she was seven.
Zoll is a horrible chef, only able to make good teas. Her soups and other culinary catastrophes make dirt look appetizing. Because of this, Zoll tends to make berry salads for herself and her pokemon, very happy to eat in restaurants.
History: Zoll was a very quiet child. She almost never cried. She didn't really see the need. Of course she cried before she knew any better, but really. When she broke her shin, she only screamed. she didnt cry.
Zoll grew up with her grandmother, who she called Gamma. Gamma was a retired trainer, and a "pretty solid coordinator." She never traveled wit her pokemon, but often would enter contests in their hometown of Hearthome City.
Zoll was taught at an early age to be nice to everyone, never let the tea get cold, and never show your ankles. Gamma was just too old-fashioned and proper for anything different.
Zoll, proper though she was, went to a old beat up school on the outskirts of town. She met her best friend, Merid, there. Merid was the opposite of Zoll: Loud, rash, and boyish. Merid said that she would someday train the most powerful pokemon ever: Magikarp.
"Uh, Merid?" Zoll had asked. "Magikarp stink. they are horrid pokemon." Merid had simply smiled and laughed.
"Magikarp hide their true potential. They simply choose not to show their immense powers to you common folk! Any pokemon that appears so weak must be hiding something."
So, Merid and Zoll set out on a quest to fish for magikarp. Zoll borrowed Gamma's old rod, and Merid used an old pokeball that she had found a few years back. They snuck to amity square and thrust out the rod into the pond there. After an hour or so, Merid had a friendly Magikarp. She named him Pebble.
After that, the two girls got into heaps of trouble. Merid's father forbade her from seeing Zoll outside of class anymore. They still talked in school, but never really were friends. Zoll promised Merid though, that she would battle her Magikarp as soon as she had a pokemon.
On her tenth birthday, Gamma gave Zoll a special present. A pokemon egg. After half a year, the egg hatched into a young female drifloon.
"This drifloon i found on my journeys when I was younger. I knew that it wouldn't hatch until it had someone to love and care about it. Zoll, be kind to it. It is a waste of time to be mean to pokemon, just like it is a waste of time to be rude to people."
Zoll had nodded and promised to be kind to the drifloon. She and her newfound companion had run out into the garden. They stared at each other for a while, maybe half an hour.
During this time, Zoll was trying to figure out what to name her pokemon. The balloon creature had its bobbing head cocked a little, its inquisitive eyes studying Zoll's just as much as she was its.
The drifloon was wondering about how Zoll would be. it was new in this world, and she didn't really know anything. Drifloon could tell her new trainer was just as uncertain about the world, for she was you as well.
"So, what kind of creature are you?" Zoll had asked, breaking an uneasy silence. Of course she wasn't really expecting an answer, though if the drifloon had provided her with one it would have been ok. She wouldn't have had such trouble figuring out who it was.
More staring. "Fooo...?" the young drifloon had asked. She was getting bored. Floating up, the balloon pokemon had wanted a look at her surroundings. Zoll smiled. of course it was curious. It was in an unfamiliar world now.
"Heyyyy... Drifloon? Do you wish to go for a walk with me?" Zoll called out to her pokemon. The balloon looked below a Zoll skeptically, then spiraled down to her. It wrapped its handles around Zoll's wrist. "Foo!" She cried enthusiastically. right! lets go!
Zoll hopped on her bike and peddled down the busy streets of Hearthome City. Amity square was close in city standards, but it was still quite a ways to go. This gave Zoll and Drifiloon plenty of time to talk, or Zoll time to talk and time to listen for Drifloon.
"So, my Gamma has pokemon, you see. I was told to take care of you. I will, of course... I want to be your friend. I want to see the world! If... You dont want to come with me, I will understand... But first, there are pressing matters at hand!
"I need to name you, Drifloon. What should your nickname be? Something that sounds really nice..." Zoll peddled in silence for a while, pondering her options. Drifloon looked around excitedly, there were so many cool things!
Drifloon could see many people, merchants selling bouquets of flowers in stalls, a jewelry store or two hiding in between restaurants and hotels. There were people walking down the busy pedestrian-friendly roads, some with pokemon! Many were stopping and eating in picnic tables.
"Foo?" Drifloon asked Zoll cautiously. What are all these people doing? Zoll followed her pokemon's eyes and saw the huge crowds.
"Ah, Drifloon, dear. These are just common people, like you and me. They wont hurt you! and if they try to, I'll stop them!" Zoll reached up and carefully stroked her balloon pokemon.
Content, Drifloon bobbed down closer to Zoll's head and rested on her shoulder. Zoll couldn't help but smile. This was going to be great! She had a pokemon!
So, her mind wandered back to the nicknaming problem. "Hallo? Short for Halloween?" Zoll inquired.
"Foo!" Drifloon exclaimed tartly. Absolutely not!
Suddenly, Zoll slammed the breaks. "Calliope!" She shouted to Drifloon. The balloon pokemon looked at Zoll, and bobbed its head to nod. "Calliope it is then."
Some pokemon wander around big cities, just like the people.some are lame and common like rattata or the dreaded Bidoof. So it wasn't a surprise that during Zoll's stalling of her bicycle, a little pokemon called Spoink had discovered their presence.
Zoll resumed her biking journey towards Amity Square, Spoink trailing closely behind. Finally, they arrived. Zoll locked her bike, and headed into the park.
Spoink snuck in under the fence. It was a curious little thing, uncertain of the pokemon that floated by that trainer's head. While Zoll played with her new pokemon, Spoink was figuring the best way to attack.
At last, Zoll grew tired, and sat on a bench. Calliope was still playing, but when Spoink bounced out of the shrubberies, it really was a shocker.
Spoink, unfortunately, could only know splash. That being said, the bouncing piglet posed little to no threat. Zoll figured that there was no way Calliope could possibly battle.
"Uh, Calliope? We need to go..." Zoll mumbled. Luckily, her little drifloon understood and they ran through the park towards where her bike was locked up.
Peddling furiously, Zoll hung on to the handlebars tightly, Calliope blinking in awe at her trainer. Zoll had saved her, by not letting Spoink battle? Calliope made a mental note to always trust her trainer's judgement.
Upon returning home, Calliope and Zoll collapsed in her tiny bedroom. "Calliope, you dont have to stay with me. I want to be a trainer, but if you dont want to battle, thats fine." Zoll whispered.
Calliope snuggled up to her trainer, cooing. It looked t her, a kind of light passing between the two. They would both become strong, and they would do it together.
By battling pokemon around the city, Zoll and her pokemon trained for the battle with her friend, Merid. Zoll knew that Magikarp were weak and dumb pokemon, but she still trained anyways.
Zoll trained for about a month, then she was ready to challenge Merid's Magikarp.
The battle was quick. Using Calliope's Constrict twice, Zoll pulled out a flawless victory. Calliope didn't really even work hard to counter splash.
Zoll decided that she would go on a journey in a distant region. Her Gamma was worried, of course, but agreed. "Send me mail, ok?"
An thus, the history of Zoll Dawson concludes, and her adventure begins.
