Dominic yelled, watching as the paralysis was torn off of the luxio by the full heal. Granted it wouldn't negate the damage of the prior attacks, but it would make the pokemon more mobile, something that it would take instant advantage of, running at Clare with its fangs primed for a solid bite. The leer shot across towards vulpix who shuddered for a moment, giving the Luxio the perfect opening to bite her clean on the right front leg. Letting out a cry Clare tried to pull away, but Dominic had a better idea. She had already taken the hit, it was time to make the Luxio regret closing the gap.
Pulling it together, Clare looked back at the Pokemon that was latched onto her leg, and opened her mouth to reveal a blue flame, one that would fire at the Luxio point blank. Upon impact the blue fire would seem as though it did nothing more than graze the Luxio, but if it was effective, the Pokemon would now be burned, putting a waste to the earlier full heal.
Clare was not finished however, while Dom was content with just waiting for the Luxio to pass out from a burn, Clare was much more unhappy, its coat was now ruffled around the leg, and lets not forget the pain such sharp teeth had caused, he blue flame would be followed up by an Ember, which would likely be fired at a no longer point blank Luxio. Even so the Ember would fly to greet the Luxio wherever it was at.
Well, now that his paralysis was gone, it was time for a new plan of action from the other team: a burn. Of course, he really couldn't avoid it since it was aimed directly at his face (which was chomping down happily on her leg). That wasn't very good at all. He hissed and jumped back, the burn negating from his current health-as did the fire spin. Blight was still trapped in the vortex, and it squeezed upon his middle every other turn. He hoped it wouldn't last much longer.
He wouldn't wait for her commands this time. She took too long to respond, and he needed to finish this battle swiftly before the vulpix had another chance to attack. Without further ado, he rushed towards her with an electrically-backed Tackle, hoping he wouldn't miss. It wasn't enough to count as a wild charge, but it would certainly do a lot of damage if it hit the mark.
Unsure as to whether or not the Ember had been succesful in striking the Luxio it was clear that the WilloWisp had. The fire spin wearily wrapped around its midsection told Dom that this Luxio was taking a beating. Its stamina was remarkable, it had survived several head on tackles, and many special attacks. Dom was almost jelous that the cat wasn't on his own side. Certainly a creature with this much endurance would make a fine addition to his squad. He shook the thought however, mostly because he was certain that Clare would be victorious here, not only because the Luxio had taken a momentary break to fight Kaz, but also because Clare was fiery both in element and in spirit. He would have put her in first against this creature and expected a win every time, and now would be no different.
"Brace for the impact clare!"
He yelled, the vulpix pitting her feet into the ground and readying herself for the impact of the tackle. There was some sort of solace here in the fact that they were both covered in the icky mud. Clare may not have liked it, but it would dull the pain of the electrified tackle, not at all absorbing the pain of the physical action of slamming into Clare.
It cried. Sliding on the slippery ground below them Clare was pushed back, not knowing how it would hope to respond, but Dominic knew. The Luxio should have waited for its trainer to give a command, perhaps she would have been able to prevent what happened next.
"Clare, Feint Attack"
Letting her footing go the two slid backwards further until the body of the vulpix vanished, having taken the tackle its next strike would be one of vengeance against the arrogant cat for its vicious attack of Kaz, who rightfully should never have been pulled out in the first place. Reappearing to its right Vulpix would ram into Luxio to hopefully put an end to this once and for all, after impact -assuming the attack made contact- she would jump back landing a few feet away. Breathing heavily clare waited to see if her attack had bore successful results.
Blight did not take into account that there was still mud on the ground. When he landed the tackle, he immediately got back up in displeasure, seeking someplace else to dry off that wasn't here. It severely lowered the chance of an electrical attack causing any damage whatsoever, so using thunder fang wasn't going to be a very reliable option here. Damn, that was his favored move, too. He cursed under his breath and looked back up only to find that the vulpix was nowhere in sight. Considering his fantastic eyesight (especially in the dark), this was increasingly odd, and so he prepared himself with another charge at the ready.
"K-keep on your toes, Blight!" Ira called out, getting more and more anxious by the minute. How much longer would this battle last? She was certain her luxio was getting tired by now-she could hear the elongated sighs of the beast in front of her, and even as the vulpix came back into his vision the raspy voice that belonged to the big cat cried out in pain when the vulpix came smashing into his flank, pushing him back into the muddy area. He hissed and lashed his tail about, kicking up a bit of mud with the star-ended tail in her general direction. It wasn't an actual attack, but it was only meant to distract the vulpix while Ira thought of something useful.
"Blight, hurry! Quick Attack!" The girl commanded, her words rushing through her head and coming out quicker than the electricity the cat conducted. The big cat hissed once more and jumped up, bolting for the vulpix with fangs ready for a good bite to the throat.
They were staged for the perfect two way strike. Vulpix still raring to go. They had been fighting for some time, but the Luxio had given Clare a break from the fight by returning her to fight Kazu. She returned to a weaker opponent, and now a burned one at that. The Luxio picked itself up for another go around.
Jeez how much more can this thing take
With the fire spin having worn off, and the burn doing menial damage the Quick attack would be the only thing to really damage the Luxio. The two Pokemon ran at each other, with the full intent on colliding. It appeared however that rather than a ram, the cat was preparing a bite, and clare was rather sick of being bit by this creature. Not slowing down for an instant her quick attack would collide with the luxio, assuming that the pokemon continued on its attack path.
Rather than giving it the bite to the neck that he so desperately wanted, Vulpix put her head down and when the impact came, rammed her forehead into the Luxio's teeth. Surely it would hurt, it was going to hurt regardless, but Clare wanted to personally send a message to the cat that this much biting was unbecoming.
After the impact Clare would bounce back, landing a few feet away from the Luxio and immediately rubbing her head on the soft mud below. She hated the mud, but now she would have a pain on the top of her head worth soothing in the Icky mess.
Go go go go go, it's time to end this nasty little game! Blight was just about finished with this battle, and he was sure he was going to win!
Well, that is if this nasty fox gave him a break. She was quicker on her feet than he was due to her small frame (he should have been the faster one, considering his type and stat advantages) and so was able to knock his lower jaw back up into his upper jaw. His teeth gnashed together with a painful sound reverberating into the air. Almost instantly he went to grinding his aching teeth, which only made things worse. He really needed to stop being so hasty with his quick attacks-now he was going to have dental problems!
That was it. He couldn't do this anymore. He hurt more than he thought he would, and he wasn't really getting anywhere with the vulpix. She was pretty rared up and ready to go, and he was... well, less than enthusiastic about this than he used to be. He took a step forward, but then collapsed on the ground. He still had a terrible burn that was ailing him, and it finally got the best of him. This battle was lost.
Ira sighed. Well, that was that. She took out the luxio's pokeball and silently returned him to his home, hoping to get him healed at the next pokecenter she came across (which should be in this town-lucky her!). She pulled her buneary off her head and removed her hat from his before she also returned him to his ball. She gingerly walked across the mud to her opponent and held out her hand hesitantly. That's what people did when they lost battles, right? Shook hands? Oh, she needed to give him money too. Yeah, that was a thing.
"Um... th-thanks for the battle." She stammered, her riolu still clinging to her other arm. "I-I don't... battle often. H-how much do I owe you?"

Dominic let out an audible sigh of relief. Three Pokemon later he had finally taken down Ira's set of battle pokemon. The rest must have been for other competition so it was not surprising that she chose not to fight with them. While it was a technical victory on his part it didn't much seem like it. Clare noted the Luxio's dissent into the mud and after standing for a moment to ensure the lightning cat was down, buckled at the knee's herself, taking a much needed sit on the ground. Her sigh was equally audible as Ira spoke once more thanking him for the battle and then...Owe?
Dominic wasn't sure how to respond, it hadn't dawned on him that most trainers fight for money, and that by winning he had earned the right to take Ira's. But he didn't need or want her money. She had given him something he had desperately needed. A fight against a trainer for his Pokemon to grow and learn. In this battle he had seen his wooper fall, he had watched Kazu flail about helplessly, and he had watched Clare save face. That was all the prize money he needed.
"Oh we didn't agree on that."
He said waving the question off with the palm of his hand and walking forward towards Clare who was resting on the ground. Crouching down to pick her up the pokemon opened its eyes abruptly and blew hot air in his face, standing up and walking in between his legs. She would not be carried if her legs still moved below her. Dom was startled by the blow, but knew the stubbornness as a sign that she would be alright, and so he would not force the indignity of being cradled on her.
"That was great...I...I think I want to try the gym"
He said, looking up the street at the tall building that was present in the distance. Walking over to Ira with a warm smile he stretched out his hand so as to officially end their battle.
"For not being a trainer, you sure have a great team. Maybe you should consider it."
Ira smiled. So he was an ambitious one, eh? That's good. She admired people with ambition, and he certainly had the means to go challenge the gym. She hoped he won when he finally challenged the gym. She wanted to speak out and say something about the money because she didn't feel right about not paying him, but she ended up saying nothing. As per usual.
"Naw. I'd rather stick to breeding. Fighting is out of my range of comfort. She replied, scratching Solace behind the ears. "Well, it was nice meeting you! I-I'd... better go find a p-pokecenter. B-Blight's gonna feel this in the m-morning."
