Trainer Class: (is your character a trainer, coordinator, connoisseur, gym leader, Team Allele member? etc)
Pokemon: Please note there are no freebies, even if your pokemon is obtained through an application. In order to capture a pokemon in your application you must follow the regular capture rules. You can (re-)read capturing rules here.
Please look below if you're confused about any sections, or if you simply don't know where to start.
When you're ready to have your application reviewed, please post a request in the Thread Approvals board. If you didn't already know this, please take another look over the required reading section of the rules.
Thread Title: Your character's first and last name. (WIP, if applicable)
Name: Straightforward, your character's first and last name.
Age: Your character's age
Gender: Your character's gender (Nonbinary genders are more than welcome here!!)
Trainer class: Your character's main class, ie trainer, coordinator, Allele grunt, etc. Keep in mind a trainer can take part in contests and a coordinator can battle and challenge gyms, this is simply their main class.
Keep in mind only moderators can play gym leaders, Elite Four, city officials, Allele Admins, Rocket Admins, other bosses, etc.
Physical description: Your character's appearance; hair style, skin color, eye color, height, etc. You may do this in list or paragraph form.
Avoid using blanket words such as "beautiful" or "ugly" too often. Using a blanket description is fine to give a general idea, but go into more detail than "Her eyes are a beautiful shade of blue." Another character may not find the same characteristics appealing as another. As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
You're welcome to include a picture of your character anywhere in your application, but this section is still required. If you use a picture you didn't draw, source it. Google and weheartit are not sources, you must provide a link to the artist's page, whether it be their personal website, deviantart, pixiv, tumblr, etc. It's very easy to reverse search an image, if you need help with this message a moderator. Playbys are acceptable, but you must still source your picture.
Personality: Your character's personality; dominant traits, whether they're nice or mean, their main interests, bathing habits, etc. You may do this in list or paragraph form.
If you see fit, you may give examples of just how far a certain trait reaches. For instance, if your character is a daredevil they may act without thinking in a way that has ended up with them in jail at points, or if your character is very generous maybe they've given away their last sandwich and gone hungry for the night.
Try and keep your character well-rounded. We don't throw around the word Mary Sue here, mainly because it's often over used and rarely grounded, but if your character is devoid of flaws or is a huge bucket of tragedy, we will request you change something. A good way to check if your character is a Mary Sue is this test
History: Your character's history; origin, childhood, family, etc. Please keep this in paragraph form.
This is the section characters are most commonly rejected over, and also the most important section. Your character's history has shaped their personality and appearance today, possibly even giving them a starting pokemon.
The biggest things we look for are:
Logic. For instance, it's unlikely a 10-year-old trainer just starting out is naturally a pokemon expert, there would have to be some explanation.
Motivation. What drives your character to want something? Why are they in Kuhre? Not everybody goes on a pokemon journey, it can be a lonely life with many hardships. This can be something as simple as looking up to trainers or liking pokemon.
Plot. Why certain events happened and how they affected your character. If your character had a run-in with Team Plasma at a young age and it takes up 3/4 of your history but it didn't affect them whatsoever, we will request something be changed. That being said, if your character had a run-in with Team Plasma, why did they have that run-in and what happened? How did it affect your character?
If your character is deeply involved in Team Allele, Team Rocket, any Gym Leader or Elite Four, or the government of any region, PM moderator prior to writing your application. This may save you a lot of time in case it's a concept that we won't accept. Be mindful of godmodding here- even though it's an application it's still considered a solo, you cannot control NPC characters such as Allele Admins.
If you need help keeping your history straight but you still want your character to be involved in Kuhre, you can check Kuhre's history here. If your history isn't heavily involved in Kuhre but you still want to do some background research there are many websites completely devoted to the pokemon world, such as Bulbapedia and Serebii.
Pokemon: If you choose to apply for a pokemon in your history, include a small profile for them in this section. Absolutely no freebie pokemon are given, even in an application; all pokemon must be earned. Capturing rules can be found here, although you should know that already wink wink.
The bare profile for a pokemon:
Nickname (optional) the Pokemon Gender: BP/EXP: Held item: (if applicable) Special Moves: (if applicable)
You may also choose to include ability, nature, usual moveset, personality, or anything you want. As long as we have basic information needed for roleplay, you may do whatever you want.
PC: If you have pokemon in the PC, please list them here. You don't need to include their personalities etc, but it's up to you to keep track of it.
Inventory: Your character's inventory. Starter kits can be found here.
Other information: You may include any other information about your character you see fit.
Some ideas are:
Layout: You may set up your character's profile however you wish, as long as all the necessary information is included. This includes using different posts to track information, using a post template, etc.
If you wish to use separate posts but a mod has already posted in your thread, you may send a message to any moderator to move their post to the end of your thread. Your accepted banner may not be removed, as it's proof your character is able to roleplay.
Character Approval: When your character is ready to be approved, post in the Thread Approvals board with a link to your application. A mod will review your solo as soon as one is available.
Upon Approval: Put a link to your character's profile in your signature. If you run out of room in your signature use tinyurl and tinypic (if you use pictures). If you run out of room using those hosting sites then it's time to admit you have a problem message Andro.
Avoid stereotypes. There is more to a person than their sexuality, race or gender identity.
Keep them balanced. A balance of good and bad traits makes for a realistic character. This goes back to the Mary Sue/Gary Stu factor.
Shock value? No. Making your character gay, trans, etc. doesn't make them weird or shocking. These people exist in real life.
Stuck? There are many things you could do in this case- try personality tests, do a writing exercise to see how they would react, etc.
