Name Shaggy Teunec
Trainer Class Trainer
Eyes color Brown
Hair color/style Light brown dreadlocks, usually tied into a bun
Shaggy is of slightly above average height - about 5' 8", with a muscular build from travelling for a rather long time. She almost always has smudges of dirt all over her legs and back which only disappear after the occasional dip in water. That being said, she's very lazy about personal hygiene and nearly always smells of dirt and other stinky things. Her disinterest in bathing was her inspiration for her dreadlocks, which wound up being easier to take care of than having to take care of her natural hair - incredibly oily and straight, a general pain to keep up with.
Clothing-wise, Shaggy will wear the same thing for days on end, and even upon changing clothes will often wear something that's already dirty. She's most commonly seen wearing a button-down over a tube top with either jeans or jean shorts. If she's able to she goes barefoot, but if she's somewhere that requires shoes she wears slip-on sandals. To keep her hair out of her face she ties it back with a bright scarf.
In case it wasn't made abundantly clear, Shaggy's main personality trait is her laziness. Her true desire to follow shortcuts so as to do as little as possible greatly affects her journey, goals and battling style. She usually doesn't work for the things she needs, and instead will try and steal them from inattentive travelers.
Beyond her sloth characteristics, Shaggy enjoys exploring and satisfying her curiosity. She is most commonly found sitting high up in trees with her Aipom next to her, simply observing her surroundings. She would much rather walk on land than climb tree to tree, so if she sees anything interesting she must climb down and walk over on foot. However, she has a terrible sense of direction and usually winds up lost.
She thinks little and talks even less, finding both activities to be useless. She prefers to live in the moment and take in her surroundings as they are. She is flexible on her opinions and will often agree with anything that's said unless it violates one of her absolutes, of which there are very few. She takes personal offense if the world around her is being changed for the worse, and if the land is being disrespected you can expect her to fuck shit up. She considers herself to be a child of the land and will defend her mother earth to the death.
Shaggy is a casual trainer, to the point where she hardly does any actual training. She allows her pokemon to make their own decisions- they know their own moves better than she does, anyway- and will stand by unless she's absolutely needed. She doesn't bother learning her pokemon's moves, sticking to a few that tend to work. When capturing pokemon she only does so either out of necessity or because they chose to come with her on their own.
Born and raised in Azalea town, Shaggy was raised by her family and even the local pokemon to be easygoing and simple. She stayed with her parents until she was 17 years old, taking up odd jobs around the town and helping her parents out around the house. She had never originally planned to leave, and she shocked even herself by doing so.
Her favorite meditation spot was always in the trees around Azalea town, and whenever she felt a little too wound up she would climb up as far as she could and would look at the world around her. She first started at the closest trees to her town, but gradually she moved farther and farther into the forest until she found her home high up in an elm tree. She would spend many hours per day on various branches, just watching travelers pass through and observing their battles.
During her time in the forest she grew incredibly fond of pokemon. They would sit in the tree with her and keep her company, and occasionally she would watch them as they picked a battle with a traveler. Among her favorites were the Beedrill, terribly misunderstood pokemon; and the Aipom, who were always very friendly towards her and other travelers.
A few of the Aipom would visit her every time she entered the forest and would accompany her as she walked toward her favorite tree, often bringing her berries in exchange for kind words and the occasional berry trade. A few of the braver ones would follow her home and play on her windowsill. Her parents were amused by their antics; ding dong ditch, drawings on their windows and even the missing food they had put on the windowsill. Even when she was working, Shaggy was rarely seen without an Aipom or two on her shoulder.
On a night not unlike any other, Shaggy sat down to watch a bit of television. There was absolutely nothing on, so she settled on the news. Three Aipom had come inside with her, and they all watched, fascinated by the story on the air.
"M-mutated pokemon?" Shaggy was appalled, but also intrigued. She switched off the television set and rested her cheek in her palm. "But I don't understand, how could that happen? Wouldn't that be bad for the pokemon?"
Shaggy turned to look at the three Aipom, all of which looked just as concerned as she did. It was obvious by their expressions that the events were just as unnatural as she suspected. "But what can we do?" There was a pause until one of the Aipom stood on its tail and looked at her meaningfully, before launching itself onto the ground and running toward the door. "Aipo-pom!" it exclaimed, gesturing toward the door.
The other two Aipom followed its lead, opening the door with their tails and running outside, calling back to Shaggy. Two more Aipom outside who had been watching the newscast with them were standing in the group, calling. She went outside to follow but, rather than running in the direction they usually went in the forest, they ran in the direction of Kuhre. Shaggy stopped chasing after them and looked back at her home. What about the townsfolk that needed her help? How would her parents react?
The Aipom were frantic to have her follow them, and unable to stand seeing her friends in such pain she obliged, leaving her home behind for who knows how long. She'd never even left Azalea town other than to go to the forest. They reached the edge of the forest, a point at which many of the Aipom didn't want to continue. Instead, they called to her, and she understood she would have to continue on. She took a deep breath and continued to walk down the dirt path towards Kuhre.
It was dark out, and unable to see much around her she was oblivious to the single Aipom that continued with her on her journey. She continued walking until she happened upon a pokemon center and, deciding she would rest there for the night, she walked in and requested a room. The young nurse set her up in a small single bed, and it wasn't until the Aipom laid down beside her that she realized she had obtained a companion.
It took them quite a long time to reach Kuhre - a couple months, actually - and by this time she had turned 18. They spent quite a lot of time relaxing and playing pranks on passerby, which was usually how they fed themselves. Shaggy was slightly disappointed upon entering Kuhre that there wasn't a sudden difference in landscape or abundance in mutated pokemon, but with Aipom's encouragement, pressed forth into the Kuhre region to find out for herself what exactly was causing these changes.
